The Android tablet that turns into a laptop

ASUS TRANSFORMER PAD TF300TG Review

The Asus Transformer Pad TF300TG is a decent quad core tablet with a docking keyboard and several other impressive features.

The Transformer Pad TF300TG has a decent built quality, though ASUS could have used metal instead of plastic, to make it more rugged. But in hand, the tablet feels nice and sturdy.

The device is fairly large, measuring in at 263x180.8x9.9mm and weighing 635g. The TF300TG’s screen feels slightly lower in quality than many other ASUS tablets. The 10in screen runs at a resolution of 1200x800 pixels. The IPS screen is LED backlit though and boasts of a satisfying viewing angle with decent colour reproduction. The tablet does not disappoint in the ports department, with a SIM slot, micro HDMI input and microSD slot.

The biggest selling point for ASUS Transformer tablets, including the TF300TG, is the inclusion of a decent keyboard dock which is almost identical to those seen on other Transformer series tablets. It has the same size of a netbook and feels sturdy in use. The tab has a mechanism which clips the keyboard directly and gives a complete netbook feel while working for long. The device boasts of a powerful NVIDIA Tegra 3 1.2GHz quad core processor ably backed up with 1GB memory.

During our review, we never suffered any performance issues. The tablet can easily handle simultaneous multiple applications and games. Streaming HD videos were smooth too, without any visible lag. Another great feature is the sound quality, we were pleasantly surprised by the volume and sound clarity.

The TF300TG runs on Google’s latest Jellybean operating system with a few good custom apps added. The device packs in a 8 megapixel rear camera and 1.2 megapixel front camera. Picture and video quality of the rear camera was surprisingly good. We were impressed with the 1080p video recording, particularly the colour and sound quality it delivered.

The TF300TG’s tablet section houses a 22Wh li-polymer battery while the dock includes a 16.5Wh battery separately. On WiFi, the tablet lasted around nine and half hours, which increased to fouteen while docked.

Overall, we liked the ASUS Transformer Pad TF300TG for its powerhouse performance and battery life.
